Use your Mirror

Mirror, mirror on the door….

Side Mirror Adjustment:

The adrenaline blasts through your body – your hands are shaking and your stomach is in your throat – you’ve experienced a near miss, or worse yet, you’ve managed to make contact with another car.

"Man, I didn’t see that guy coming!" "Oops!!!" A nasty accident results!

Some of the most serious automobile accidents may be prevented and most certainly reduced, by carefully adjusting sideview mirrors.

First, forget everything the driving instructor/gym teacher taught you about adjusting side view mirrors.

Plop yourself behind the steering wheel, then rest your head on the driver’s side window and then adjust the driver’s side mirror so that you see the side of your car.

Once this is set, move to the center of the vehicle and turn the passenger side mirror so that you can just see the right side of your car from the center of the vehicle.

That’s it! You won’t see your own car in either mirror, yet what you will see is far better.

Cars behind you show up as usual in the center mounted rear-view mirror, but the instant the car leaves your field of vision from that mirror, it will appear in the side-view mirror. No blind spot, no delays, no wondering where that car about to pass you disappeared to. No wondering where that car went or where it came from.

All three mirrors work in harmony with one another, and the blind spots have been eliminated!

I use this procedure to adjust the mirrors on the racecar. No surprises from over-taking cars.

The only way to truly be aware of what’s going on around you, is to see what’s going on around you. Don’t guess…use your mirrors to help!

Happy driving!
